Abstract

Abstract A child seat is formed of a child seat main portion for holding a child, and a base on which the child seat main portion is detachably mounted. The base has a connecting portion to be connected to a vehicle, and a fixing device engageable with an engaging member of the child seat main portion. An engagement releasing member is installed in one of the base and the child seat main portion for releasing an engagement between the fixing device and the engaging member. In the child seat, a permission member is formed to cooperate with the connecting portion for allowing the child seat main portion to engage the base only when the base is connected to the vehicle. The child seat can be easily fixed to the vehicle.
