The method of claim 111 wherein positioning the filter assembly includes locating the filter assembly with regard to the bottom of the bucket such that the force imposed on the filter assembly during centrifugation is not greater than about 60% of the force imposed at the bottom of the centrifuge bucket.
Claim 120
Dependent Claim 51 words
The method of claim 112 wherein positioning the filter assembly includes locating the filter assembly with regard to the bottom of the bucket such that the force imposed on the filter assembly during centrifugation is not greater than about 40% of the force imposed at the bottom of the centrifuge bucket.
Claim 121
Dependent Claim 19 words
The method of claim 113 wherein positioning the filter assembly includes positioning the filter assembly outside the centrifuge bucket.
Claim 122
Dependent Claim 27 words
The method of claim 114 wherein positioning the filter assembly includes positioning the filter assembly on a bracket which rests on or partly within the centrifuge bucket.
Claim 123
Dependent Claim 30 words
The method of claim 111 wherein passing the sediment layer through a porous medium comprises passing the layer through a leucocyte depletion medium for depleting leucocytes from packed red cells.
Claim 124
Dependent Claim 31 words
The method of claim 111 wherein passing the sediment layer through a porous medium comprises passing the layer through a medium having a voids volume of about 60% to about 90%.
Claim 125
Dependent Claim 34 words
The method of claim 111 wherein passing the sediment layer through a porous medium comprises passing the layer through a medium having a flow area of about 30 to about 60 cm 2 .
Claim 126
Dependent Claim 26 words
The method of claim 111 wherein passing the sediment layer through a porous medium comprises passing the layer through a medium that also includes a pre-filter.
Claim 127
Independent Claim 83 words
A method for collecting and processing blood comprising: collecting whole blood in the first container of a blood collection and processing system comprising a first container for whole blood, a second container for a blood component, and a filter assembly interposed between the first container and the second container; placing the first container holding whole blood and the second container in a centrifuge bucket; positioning the filter assembly on a bracket away from the bottom of the centrifuge bucket; and centrifuging the system.
Claim 128
Independent Claim 83 words
A method for collecting and processing blood comprising: collecting whole blood in the first container of a blood collection and processing system comprising a first container for whole blood, a second container for a blood component, and a filter assembly interposed between the first container and the second container; placing the first container holding whole blood and the second container in a centrifuge bucket; positioning the filter assembly on a bracket away from the bottom of the centrifuge bucket; and centrifuging the system.
Claim 129
Dependent Claim 51 words
The method of claim 120 wherein positioning the filter assembly includes locating the filter assembly with regard to the bottom of the bucket such that the force imposed on the filter assembly during centrifugation is not greater than about 60% of the force imposed at the bottom of the centrifuge bucket.
Claim 130
Dependent Claim 19 words
The method of claim 120 wherein positioning the filter assembly includes positioning the filter assembly outside the centrifuge bucket.
Claim 131
Dependent Claim 24 words
The method of claim 120 wherein positioning the filter assembly includes positioning the filter assembly on a bracket which rests on the centrifuge bucket.
