Abstract
Abstract A vulcanizable composition which comprises diene rubber, an EPDM that has been modified to crosslink with the diene rubber, and a polymeric antidegradant, while being substantially free of staining antidegradants. This composition has particular utility in the sidewalls of tires.

A tire having an outer layer in a sidewall comprising a nonstaining elastomeric composition which prior to vulcanization comprises by weight 25 to 90 parts diene rubber, 10 to 75 parts of EPDM that has been modified to increase its crosslinkability to diene rubbers, 0.5 to 10 phr of either a grafted or copolymerized antidegradant and a vulcanizing amount of a sulfur cure package, said composition being substantially free of staining antidegradants.

A tire having an outer layer in a sidewall comprising a nonstaining elastomeric composition which prior to vulcanization comprises by weight 25 to 90 parts diene rubber, 10 to 75 parts of EPDM that has been modified to increase its crosslinkability to diene rubbers, 0.5 to 10 phr of either a grafted or copolymerized antidegradant and a vulcanizing amount of a sulfur cure package, said composition being substantially free of staining antidegradants.
