Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 42 words
A process for producing a recombinant microorganism capable of converting glucose to 2-KLG which comprises transforming a host cell capable of converting glucose to 2,5-DKG but lacking the ability to convert 2,5-DKG to 2-KLG with an expression vector which encodes 2,5-DKG reductase.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 42 words
A process for producing a recombinant microorganism capable of converting glucose to 2-KLG which comprises transforming a host cell capable of converting glucose to 2,5-DKG but lacking the ability to convert 2,5-DKG to 2-KLG with an expression vector which encodes 2,5-DKG reductase.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said host cell is of the genus Erwinia.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said host cell is Erwinia herbicola (ATCC 21998).
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 13 words
A recombinant plasmid comprising a DNA segment encoding the enzyme 2,5 DKG reductase.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 13 words
A recombinant plasmid comprising a DNA segment encoding the enzyme 2,5 DKG reductase.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 25 words
The plasmid of claim 4 wherein the enzyme is one which migrates in reducing or non-reducing SDS PAGE corresponding to a M.W. of approximately 34,000.
