Abstract

Abstract An improved heat balanced hydrocarbon conversion process is disclosed of the type employing circulating solids between a riser reactor (contactor) and regenerator (combustor). The ratio of circulating solid to hydrocarbon feed (C/O or cat-oil ratio) is increased by: directly cooling a portion of hot freshly regenerated contact material; passing a portion of hot regenerated material into the steam stripper; cooling hot regenerated contact material and charging it to the riser downstream of charging uncooled hot regenerated material which charging hydrocarbon feed to the base of the riser along with lift gas or steam; or lifting hot regenerated contact material by a carbonizable lift gas into the riser before contacting it with hydrocarbon feed which is injected higher in the riser.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 185 words
In a heat balanced hydrocarbon conversion process wherein a hydrocarbon feed is converted to lower boiling products in a reactor by contacting the same at elevated temperatures with hot fluid cracking catalyst comprising a zeolite containing acid sites to form said lower boiling products and the resulting spent cracking catalyst containing coke from said reactor is separated from reaction products and stripped of volatile hydrocarbons in a stripping zone to provide stripped solid fluid cracking catalyst and said stripped catalyst is regenerated with an oxygen-containing gas in a regeneration zone to provide hot freshly regenerated fluid cracking catalyst which is returned to the reactor, the improvement which comprises cooling a portion of said hot freshly regenerated fluid cracking catalyst to provide a cooled portion of regenerated fluid cracking catalyst and a hot portion of regenerated fluid cracking catalyst, and contacting said cooled portion of regenerated fluid cracking catalyst with said hydrocarbon feed in said reactor downstream of contacting said hydrocarbon feed in said reactor with said hot portion of regenerated fluid cracking catalyst, thereby increasing the ratio of fluid cracking catalyst to said hydrocarbon feed.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 185 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 66 words
The process of claim 1 which further comprises carrying out both said conversion and said regeneration in a dilute phase and passing all of the solid material from both said reactor and regeneration zone through cyclone preseparators wherein rapid disengagement of solids and gases occur and wherein the solid material is returned to a dense bed contained in a vessel other than said regenerator or reactor.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 20 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said hydrocarbon feed is charged to the reactor along with lift gas or steam.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 52 words
The process of claim 3 wherein said feed contains asphaltenes, basic nitrogen and metals, whereby said hot portion of regenerated cracking catalyst removes at least the majority of asphaltenes, basic nitrogen and metals and said cooled portion of regenerated catalyst contacts feedstock at least partially depleted of asphaltenes, basic nitrogen and metals.
