Abstract

Abstract A stable antiplaque dentifrice with improved foaming containing an antiplaque quaternary ammonium compound, a betaine surfactant to improve foaming without inactivating the antibacterial and antiplaque activity of the quaternary ammonium compound, a humectant selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol, sorbitol and mixtures thereof, and a nonionic gelling agent, preferably hydroxyethylcellulose, in an aqueous vehicle containing a dental abrasive. A fluorine-containing compound such as monofluorophosphate is an optionally preferred ingredient.
