Abstract

Abstract A process for the recovery of immunoglobulins of high purity and potency from milk, in which process milk is passed through a re-usable immunoadsorbent column comprising an insoluble carrier material to which is bound a low-affinity monoclonal antibody specific to one or more milk immunoglobulins but not specific to any other common constituent of milk, the antibody bind immunoglobulin molecules are released by eluting the immunoadsorbent.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 84 words
A process for the recovery of immunoglobulins of high purity and potency from natural sources such as a milk and blood serum, characterised in that a source of immunoglobulins is contacted with an isoluble carrier material to which is bound a low-affinity monoclonal antibody specific to one or more of the immunoglobulins but not specific to any other common constituent of the source, the antibody binds immunoglobulin molecules and, following removal of the residue of the source, immunoglobulin molecules are released from the antibody.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 84 words
A process for the recovery of immunoglobulins of high purity and potency from natural sources such as a milk and blood serum, characterised in that a source of immunoglobulins is contacted with an isoluble carrier material to which is bound a low-affinity monoclonal antibody specific to one or more of the immunoglobulins but not specific to any other common constituent of the source, the antibody binds immunoglobulin molecules and, following removal of the residue of the source, immunoglobulin molecules are released from the antibody.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 71 words
A process for the recovery of immunoglobulins of high purity and potency from milk, characterised in that milk is contacted with an insoluble carrier material to which is bound a low-affinity monoclonal antibody specific to one or more milk immunoglobulins but not specific to any other common constituent of milk, the antibody binds immunoglobulin molecules and, following removal of the residue of the milk, immunoglobulin molecules are released from the antibody.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 71 words
A process for the recovery of immunoglobulins of high purity and potency from milk, characterised in that milk is contacted with an insoluble carrier material to which is bound a low-affinity monoclonal antibody specific to one or more milk immunoglobulins but not specific to any other common constituent of milk, the antibody binds immunoglobulin molecules and, following removal of the residue of the milk, immunoglobulin molecules are released from the antibody.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 35 words
A process according to claim 1, characterised in that the monoclonal antibody is bound in an immunoadsorbent column or filter and release of the bound immunoglobulin is effected by eluting the immunoadsorbent column or filter.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 24 words
A process according to claim 3, characterised in that the immunoadsorbent column or filter is flushed with a physiologically neutral liquid before being eluted.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 30 words
A process according to claim 4, characterised in that the immunoadsorbent column or filter is flushed with a physiologically neutral liquid following elution but before re-use in adsorbing further immunoglobulin.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 23 words
A process according to claim 1, characterised in that the source is bovine milk and the immunoglobulin recovered in bovine IgG 1 .
