Abstract

Abstract Cationic chemically modified asphalts having utility for road construction, repair and maintenance, as well as a coating for various substrates including cementitious substrates, glass and metal are provided. These asphalts are obtained by reacting an acrylamide, optionally with a vinyl aromatic, with a prereacted product of asphalt, a rubber and a vinyl aromatic monomer.
