An agglutination inhibition immunoassay for measuring the presence or level of a hapten in a sample comprising (a) mixing with said sample a quantity of antibody-sensitized particles, said antibody being reactive with the hapten under assay, (b) mixing with the mixture resulting from step (a) a quantity of antigen-sensitized particles, said antigen being reactive with said antibody; and (c) correlating the agglutination or lack thereof with the presence or level of said hapten in said sample.
