Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim
120 words
A method for making a device for local intralumenal administration of drugs comprising: (a) providing a plurality of a first, structural filament; (b) providing a second, bioabsorbable polymeric filament having a drug compounded therein, (c) weaving the first, structural filaments and the second, bioabsorbable polymeric filament into a tubular, open-ended body, said first and second filaments woven helically along a center line of the tubular body as a common axis and woven in opposing helical directions such that the tubular body is variable in radial diameter under axial movement of opposite ends of the body relative to each other and woven with at least a portion of the second, bioabsorbable filament exposed at an exterior surface of the tubular body.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
19 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of first, structural support elements are made from a bioabsorbable polymer.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
23 words
The method of claim 1 also comprising the steps of: (a) providing a catheter; and (b) loading the woven body into the catheter.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
28 words
The method of claim 3 wherein the step of loading the woven body into the catheter includes loading the woven body at a distal end of the catheter.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
22 words
The method of claim 3 wherein the step of loading the woven body into the catheter includes pulling the woven body longitudinally.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
30 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the step of weaving the filaments in opposing helical directions includes forming an angle of 60 degrees to 90 degrees between the woven filaments.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
41 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the step of weaving the filaments in opposing helical directions includes forming junctures between the filaments and then bonding the filaments together at the junctures to prevent the filaments from sliding relative to each other.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
21 words
The method of claim 7 wherein the step of bonding the filaments includes the heating the filaments to a melting temperature.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
40 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the step of weaving the filaments in opposing helical directions includes forming junctures between the filaments and then kinking the filaments at the junctures to prevent the filaments from sliding relative to each other.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
17 words
The method of claim 9 wherein the step of kinking the filaments includes of heating the filaments.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
26 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the second, bioabsorbable polymeric filament is provided as a high surface area multifilar filament comprised of a plurality of strands.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
26 words
The method of claim 1 wherein the step of weaving the filaments includes forming an angle of 60 degrees to 90 degrees between the woven filaments.
