Abstract
Abstract An inflatable bag to protect a driver or passenger in a motor vehicle is provided with one or more tear elements which do not form part of the bag defining the boundary between the interior of the bag and the exterior of the bag. The tear elements initially limit the interior volume of the bag but, tear as the bag is inflated, thus increasing the permissible interior volume of the bag.
