Abstract

Abstract Known collision-protection air bags are constructed with a centre part which is connected to two side parts of the same size. Provided on the surface of the centre part there is a tear fold which decreases the filling volume and which is formed by a tear seam. In the unfolding phase, in the region of the side parts expansion occurs at a high speed, which under certain circumstances can cause injury to the passengers. …<??>In the new collision-protection air bag, the tear seams (5', 5", 6', 6") connect the connecting seams (4', 4") lying next to one another in the region of the tear fold (2'), between the centre part (2) and the side parts (1', 1"). In this way, particularly in the region of the side parts (1', 1") a reduction of the expansion and of the expansion speed is brought about. …<??>Collision-protection air bags, in particular for the region of the front seat passenger. …<IMAGE>…
