Abstract

Abstract An induction system for a V-type engine that permits a compact engine configuration and the tuning of two different intake passages for each cylinder for different engine speed ranges. The shorter high-speed intake passages are served by the plenum chamber adjacent the cylinder bank while some of the other intake passages are served by the adjacent plenum chamber and others are served by the other plenum chamber. The second intake passages all have the same length and the configuration is such so as to provide substantially equal flow lengths for the intake air and to substantially preclude adjacent firing cylinders drawing air from the same plenum chamber under at least some running conditions,
