Abstract
Abstract A waveguide type light isolator capable of easily matching the phases of the TE wave and TM wave comprises a substrate and a light waveguide layer formed on the substrate. The waveguide layer has a super lattice structure in which well layers and barrier layers are alternately laminated. At least one of the well layers and barrier layers contains magnetic ions. The energy between an electron and a light hole in the light waveguide layer is larger than that of light propagating in the waveguide layer. Further, the energy between an electron and a heavy hole in light waveguide layer is smaller than that of light propagating in the waveguide layer.
