Abstract

Abstract A developing unit which accommodates black toner is operated for developing process by black toner only at a proper time when color image forming operation is not performed by other developing units which accommodate other colored toners. Then, a cleaning blade is actuated without conducting transfer process of the developed image onto a transfer material, and residual toner is removed from the photoconductor.
