Image forming method

Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To enable to form images by repeatedly using image carrier surface, by using an image carrier having thermoplastic linear structure resin surface, abutting the polishing member against the surface thereof to polish, and cleaning, the surface by removing the deposit together with the resin. CONSTITUTION: In the image forming method to carry the developing image on the image carrier surface and clean the surface of image carrier after transferring the developing image on the transfer member to use the image carrier repeatedly, a photosensitive drum 1 should be made of a material having a thermoplastic linear structure resin surface as the image carrier. A polishing device 10 is provided. Prior to cleaning process by a cleaning device 8, a polishing process is provided to abut the polishing member against the image carrier surface to polish it, and the deposit on the carrier surface is removed together with the resin. This polishing process is designed to act selectively in the developing image non-carrying part of the image carrier surface, and the polishing process acts on the downward surface of the image carrier, so that the excluded part is discharge out of the image carrier surface.
