Abstract Photographic elements having oxonol dyes of the formula: ##STR1## R 1 and R 2 each independently represent alkyl of from 1 to 5 carbon atoms are disclosed. The dyes are particularly useful as filter dyes in the form of solid particle microcrystalline dispersions.
