Abstract

Abstract A method of producing a composite material from a mixture of copper and a low coefficient of thermal expansion nickel-iron alloy (Invar) powder is disclosed wherein advantageously at least part of the copper is deposited on the Invar powder prior to processing. Processing includes cold compacting to a green strip or other configuration, annealing in the temperature range of 550°-750° C. and working the annealed material at a temperature in that range to high density.
