Abstract
Abstract A pressure image forming apparatus in which a sheet S of photo-sensitive and pressure-sensitive material is exposed to an original image, a sheet C of image fixing material is overlaid on the sheet S, and the image on the sheet S is transferred by a pair of pressure rolls 304, 312. One of the rolls is a hard roll having a multiplicity of small projections on its surface which rupture microcapsules on the sheet S to effect the image transfer to sheet C.

Total Claims: 11
Claim 1
Independent Claim
147 words
An image forming apparatus, comprising: (a) means for exposing a side of a first sheet of image recording material (S) coated with microcapsules containing a photosensitive composition to an original image, (b) means for developing the exposed sheet, (c) means for superposing a second sheet (C) of image receiving material on the side of the exposed and developed first sheet coated with microcapsules, (d) means for rupturing the microcapsules to transfer the recorded image to the second sheet, and (e) means for fixing the transferred image on the second sheet, (f) wherein the rupturing means comprises a pair of cylindrical rollers (304, 312) having parallel axes, biased against each other at a predetermined pressure, and defining a conveyance nip through which the superposed sheets are passed, one of the rollers having a hard surface defining a multiplicity of minute, closely spaced, upstanding projections for rupturing the microcapsules.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
147 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
28 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said one roller is disposed to engage a side of the first sheet opposite the side coated with microcapsules.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
18 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 2, wherein another one of said rollers is made of rubber.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
18 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 2, wherein another one of said rollers is made of metal.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
19 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 2, wherein each of said projections has a smoothly curved cross-sectional configuration.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
18 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 2, wherein an extremity of each of said projections is acute.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
27 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said projections comprise an infinite number of extremely thin wires embedded in the surface of said one roller.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
21 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the diameter of each of said wires ranges from 0.5 to 0.05mm.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
23 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the height of each of said projections ranges from 5 microns to 5 mm.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
23 words
An image forming apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the pitch of the extremities of said projections ranges from 5 to 500 microns.
