Abstract
Abstract Novel curable resin compositions are disclosed containing an aromatic cyanate ester and an allyl ether of a bisphenol as a modifier. These compositions provide improved prepregs and composites. Additional modifiers including epoxy resins and bismaleimides may be included.

A curable composition comprising carbon fiber, a cyanate ester having the formula: R--(O--C.tbd.N).sub.m wherein m is an integer of from 2 to 5 and R is an aromatic radical, a bismaleimide, and at least one diallyl ether of a bisphenol having the following general formula: ##STR9## wherein B is selected from the group consisting of ##STR10## or is a direct bond; x is independently selected from the group consisting of halogen and C 1 -C 6 alkyl groups and n is 0 to 4.

A curable composition comprising carbon fiber, a cyanate ester having the formula: R--(O--C.tbd.N).sub.m wherein m is an integer of from 2 to 5 and R is an aromatic radical, a bismaleimide, and at least one diallyl ether of a bisphenol having the following general formula: ##STR9## wherein B is selected from the group consisting of ##STR10## or is a direct bond; x is independently selected from the group consisting of halogen and C 1 -C 6 alkyl groups and n is 0 to 4.
