Abstract
Abstract A control system for a motor vehicle provided with a continuously variable transmission. The transmission has a drive pulley, a driven pulley, a transmission ratio control valve having ports and a spool, and a hydraulic circuit for supplying oil to the transmission ratio control valve so as to control the transmission ratio. When a speed sensor of one of the pulleys fails to properly sense the speed of the pulley, the transmission ratio control valve is operated by fail-safe operation so as to maintain the ratio transmission to a proper value.
