Abstract

Abstract A ribbon-shaped transmission element having a plurality of optical fibers which are provided on the outside with a thin coating of synthetic or plastic material and which are disposed side-by-side on a connecting layer, characterized by the material of the connecting layer and the thin coating being of the same material so that a good and reliable bonding is achieved in a simple fashion. The transmission element is made by forming the bonding or connecting layer and bringing it into contact with a plurality of spaced-apart moving coated fibers.
