Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 69 words
A dental polishing strip comprising: (a) a substrate formed of a shape-memory alloy selected so that, after deformation by contact with the teeth during use, said substrate returns to its original shape upon being heated to a temperature at least slightly higher than the temperature of human mouths and (b) a polishing surface on said substrate for polishing the proximal surfaces of teeth or fillings in the proximal cavity.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 69 words
A dental polishing strip comprising: (a) a substrate formed of a shape-memory alloy selected so that, after deformation by contact with the teeth during use, said substrate returns to its original shape upon being heated to a temperature at least slightly higher than the temperature of human mouths and (b) a polishing surface on said substrate for polishing the proximal surfaces of teeth or fillings in the proximal cavity.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 48 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 1 wherein said shape-memory alloy is selected so that, after deformation by contact with the teeth during use, said substrate returns to its original shape upon being heated to a temperature in the range of 40° C. to 250° C.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 30 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 1 wherein said shape-memory alloy is selected from the group consisting of Ti-Ni shape-memory alloy, Cu-Zn-Al shape-memory alloy, and Fe-Mn shape-memory alloy.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 18 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 1 wherein said polishing surface is formed like a file.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 1 wherein said polishing surface is formed on one side only of said substrate.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 1 wherein said polishing surface is formed on both sides of said substrate.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 23 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 1 wherein said polishing surface is formed from polishing adhesive grains mounted on said substrate.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 43 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 7 wherein said polishing adhesive grains are selected from the group consisting of aluminum oxide, diamond, carborundum, cubic boron nitride, and ceramic materials based on TiC, ZrO 2 , or Si 3 N 4 .
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 22 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 7 wherein said polishing adhesive grains have a grain size of about 7-150 microns.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 24 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 7 wherein said polishing adhesive grains are mounted on said substrate by means of an adhesive.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 23 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 7 wherein said polishing adhesive grains are mounted on said substrate by means of electroplating.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 23 words
A dental polishing strip as recited in claim 7 wherein said polishing adhesive grains are mounted on said substrate by means of brazing.
