Abstract
Abstract This invention is a composition of matter made up of an expanded smectite clay having multimetallic pillars separating the clay layers. The expanded clay may be used as a shape selective catalyst, catalyst support, or as an adsorbent material. More particularly, this invention relates to expanded smectite clays wherein the pillars are made up of aluminum and one or more transition metals.
