Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim
38 words
A method for stabilizing an earth formation which comprises fine particulate materials selected from the group consisting of clay, mineral particles, and mixtures thereof, comprising contacting said formation with an effective amount of copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
38 words
A method for stabilizing an earth formation which comprises fine particulate materials selected from the group consisting of clay, mineral particles, and mixtures thereof, comprising contacting said formation with an effective amount of copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
24 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine is contacted with said formation by employing an aqueous solvent carrier fluid.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
11 words
The method of claim 2 wherein said aqueous solvent is brine.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
27 words
The method of claim 3 wherein brine comprises a salt selected from the group consisting of potassium chloride, ammonium chloride, calcium chloride, sodium chloride, and mixtures thereof.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
27 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said clay containing formation is treated with a salt brine prior to being contacted with said copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine.
Claim 7
Independent Claim
61 words
A method for stabilizing clay containing formations penetrated by a well bore, said stabilization being substantially permanent in that the caly within the formation remains in a stabilized condition even after contact with acid solutions subsequent to the stabilization treatment, comprising contacting said clay containing formations with an effective amount of a treating solution comprising a copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine.
Claim 8
Independent Claim
61 words
A method for stabilizing clay containing formations penetrated by a well bore, said stabilization being substantially permanent in that the caly within the formation remains in a stabilized condition even after contact with acid solutions subsequent to the stabilization treatment, comprising contacting said clay containing formations with an effective amount of a treating solution comprising a copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
31 words
The method of claim 6 and further comprising contacting said clay formation with a brine prior to contacting said formation with the treating solution comprising a copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine.
Claim 10
Independent Claim
70 words
A method for stabilizing earth formations which comprise clay or mineral particles, or mixtures thereof, comprising the steps of: (a) contacting said formation with an effective amount of a treating solution of a copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine by introducing said solution into the formation under pressure; and (b) thereafter introducing a second fluid into said formation, under pressure, to facilitate further contact between said treating solution and said formation.
Claim 11
Independent Claim
70 words
A method for stabilizing earth formations which comprise clay or mineral particles, or mixtures thereof, comprising the steps of: (a) contacting said formation with an effective amount of a treating solution of a copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine by introducing said solution into the formation under pressure; and (b) thereafter introducing a second fluid into said formation, under pressure, to facilitate further contact between said treating solution and said formation.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
21 words
The method of claim 8 wherein said treating solution comprises said copolymer of epichlorohydrin and dimethylamine dissolved in an aqueous brine.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
12 words
The method of claim 8 wherein said second fluid is a brine.
