Abstract

Abstract Polymeric materials, for example, vinyl materials contain an added trace amount of a compound which is detectable by an instrumental method of analysis in the absence of the step of freshly exposing a surface of the sample and without substantial interference from other ingredients in the vinyl material. The incorporation of the added trace compound allows for coding of the material and provides a means to later identify the manufacturer of the film without the need to affix more visible identification means thereto.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 75 words
A polymeric material, that can be formed into a final commercial product, which is coded for later identification by an instrumental method of analysis by the presence therein of an added trace amount of a zirconium silicate coding element only which is detectable and identifiable by said instrumental method of analysis in the absence of the step of freshly exposing a surface of the material and without substantial interference from other ingredients in the material.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 75 words
A polymeric material, that can be formed into a final commercial product, which is coded for later identification by an instrumental method of analysis by the presence therein of an added trace amount of a zirconium silicate coding element only which is detectable and identifiable by said instrumental method of analysis in the absence of the step of freshly exposing a surface of the material and without substantial interference from other ingredients in the material.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 99 words
A vinyl chloride polymeric material, that can be formed into a final commercial product, which is coded for later identification by an instrumental method of analysis by the presence therein of an added trace amount of a zirconium silicate coding element only which is present at from about at least 35 parts by weight per one million parts by weight of polymeric material and which is detectable and identifiable by said instrumental method of analysis in the absence of the step of freshly exposing a surface of the material and without substantial interference from other ingredients in the material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 99 words
A vinyl chloride polymeric material, that can be formed into a final commercial product, which is coded for later identification by an instrumental method of analysis by the presence therein of an added trace amount of a zirconium silicate coding element only which is present at from about at least 35 parts by weight per one million parts by weight of polymeric material and which is detectable and identifiable by said instrumental method of analysis in the absence of the step of freshly exposing a surface of the material and without substantial interference from other ingredients in the material.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 100 words
A vinyl chloride polymeric material, that can be formed into a final commercial product, which is coded for later identification by an instrumental method of analysis by the presence therein of an added trace amount of a zirconium silicate coding element only which is present at from about 35 to about 200 parts by weight per one million parts by weight of polymeric material and which is detectable and identifiable by said instrumental method of analysis in the absence of the step of freshly exposing a surface of the material and without substantial interference from other ingredients in the material.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 100 words
A vinyl chloride polymeric material, that can be formed into a final commercial product, which is coded for later identification by an instrumental method of analysis by the presence therein of an added trace amount of a zirconium silicate coding element only which is present at from about 35 to about 200 parts by weight per one million parts by weight of polymeric material and which is detectable and identifiable by said instrumental method of analysis in the absence of the step of freshly exposing a surface of the material and without substantial interference from other ingredients in the material.
