Abstract METHOD OF TAGGING INDIVIDUAL UNITS OF PRODUCTION OF A SUBSTANCE BY PROVIDING AN INVENTORY OF BATCHES OF MICROPARTICELS, EACH BATCH BEING UNIFORMLY CODED BY INCORPORATION IN THE MICROPARTICLES A SELECTED COMBINATION OF TAGGING ELEMENTS IN UNIFORM AMOUNTS OF AT LEAST 0.1% OF THE TOTAL WEIGHT OF THE MICROPARTICLE. UNIQUELY CODED MICROPARTICLES ARE INCORPORATED INTO EACH UNIT OF PRODUCTION OF THE SUBSTANCE WHEREBY RECOVERY OF A SINGLE MICROPARTICLE WOULD BE SUFFICIENT TO IDENTIFY THE UNIT OF PRODUCTION OF THE SUBSTANCE.
