Abstract

Abstract A pharmaceutical preparation comprising a flexible backing and a base material provided thereon is described wherein the base material consists essentially of a polymer having a glass transition temperature of from -70 DEG C. to -10 DEG C. and exhibiting pressure-sensitivity at room temperature, and isosorbide dinitrate or pentaerythritol tetranitrate. This pharmaceutical preparation is applied to the skin, and permits the active ingredient to be absorbed through the skin into the body at a constant rate, and gradually over a long period of time.

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 134 words
A pharmaceutical preparation comprising a flexible backing and a base material formed on the flexible backing, said base material comprising a layer of a polymer having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of from -70° C. to -10° C. and exhibiting pressure-sensitivity at room temperature, and isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN) or pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) retained in said base material, wherein the polymer contains at least 50% by weight alkyl acrylate or methacrylate containing an average of at least 4 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety, wherein the isosorbide dinitrate or pentaerythritol tetranitrate concentration in the base material is from 0.5 to 20% by weight and wherein the laminate is composed of a polyester and a member selected from an ethylene-vinylacetate copolymer and an ethylene-ethylacrylate copolymer which prevents the crystallization of the isosorbide dinitrate or pentaerythritol tetranitrate.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 134 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
A pharmaceutical preparation as in claim 1, wherein the polymer is a copolymer of alkyl acrylate or methacrylate and a functional monomer copolymerizable therewith.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 25 words
A pharmaceutical preparation as in claim 2, wherein the polymer is a copolymer of alkyl acrylate or methacrylate and a vinyl ester monomer copolymerizable therewith.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 16 words
A pharmaceutical preparation as in claim 1, wherein the base material further contains an absorption promotor.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 31 words
