Abstract A corrosion inhibited composition comprises an aqueous drilling, cutting, or polishing agent, an aqueous hydraulic fluid or an aqueous antifreeze compound; and an alkali metal salt, or an aliphatic amine salt of a mixture of 2- and 3-C 6-12 -alkyladipic acids, the amount of this acid component being effective as a corrosion inhibitor.

A corrosion inhibited composition comprising (a) water (b) a glycol; a polyglycol; a polyglycol ether; a thickener for aqueous compositions; or a mineral oil and an emulsifier; and (c) an alkali metal salt or a water soluble aliphatic amine salt of a mixture of 2- and 3-C 6-12 -alkyladipic acids, the amount of this acid component being effective as a corrosion inhibitor, and the pH of the composition being 7-9.
