Abstract

Abstract An immersion tin plating bath composition permits high speed plating of tin over zinc and zinc alloy coated steel. The bath consists of stannous ion, a mineral acid, a surfactant consisting of nonylphenoxypoly(ethyleneoxy)ethanol and Guar gum resin as a bodying agent. The combination of the surfactant and bodying agent makes it possible to obtain an adherent tin coating of minimum porosity and controlled, uniform thickness on a continuous basis by roll coating application.
