A process for the production of a compound of formula I ##STR5## wherein A is ##STR6## hereinafter referred to as cyclosporin D, dihydroclosporin D or iso-cyclosporin D, respectively, which comprises (a) for the production of cyclosporin D, cultivating a cyclosporin D producing strain of the species Tolypocladium inflatum Gams in the presence of a nutrient medium and isolating cyclosporin D, (b) for the production of dihydrocyclosporin, hydrogenating cyclosporin D, or (c) for the production of isocyclosporin D rearranging cyclosporin D under acidic conditions.
