Abstract

Abstract A process for treating ammonia-containing waste water which comprises subjecting the ammonia-containing waste water to wet oxidation with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst while maintaining the waste water at a temperature of 100 to 370° C. and at pressure permitting the waste water to remain in the liquid phase, the catalyst comprising at least one of iron, cobalt, nickel, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, iridium, platinum, copper, gold, tungsten and water-insoluble compounds thereof.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 88 words
A process for treating ammonia-containing waste water which comprises subjecting at a pH of at least 9 the ammonia-containing waste water to wet oxidation with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst while maintaining the waste water at a temperature of 100 to 370° C. and at pressure permitting the waste water to remain in the liquid phase, the catalyst being supported by a carrier and comprising at least one of iron, cobalt, nickel, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, iridium, platinum, copper, gold, tungsten and water-insoluble compounds thereof.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 88 words
A process for treating ammonia-containing waste water which comprises subjecting at a pH of at least 9 the ammonia-containing waste water to wet oxidation with an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst while maintaining the waste water at a temperature of 100 to 370° C. and at pressure permitting the waste water to remain in the liquid phase, the catalyst being supported by a carrier and comprising at least one of iron, cobalt, nickel, ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, iridium, platinum, copper, gold, tungsten and water-insoluble compounds thereof.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 24 words
A process as defined in claim 1 wherein the ammonia-containing waste water is subjected to wet oxidation at a pH of 10 to 12.5.
