Abstract
Abstract Methods of producing streptozotocin and novel derivatives thereof by reacting an N-nitroso-alkylcarbamyl azide with Dglucosamine or an acid addition salt thereof are disclosed. Novel intermediates which are useful in the process are also disclosed. Streptozotocin and its novel derivatives are useful as diabetogenetic compounds.
