Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To decrease the memory capacity and to shorten the operating time by providing a non-linear processing means to correct the gamma characteristic of the cathode ray tube. CONSTITUTION:The output of a binary picture memory 1 is inputted to a two-dimensional filter 2 and the output of the level of 17 stages is inputted to a non- linear converting device 3 by the two-dimensional filter. The non-linear converting device 3 is composed of the circuit to make the picture quantized by the quantizer of 256 levels again into the output after the output is converted by the converting device having the input output characteristics shown in the figure. Thus, by a small number of the quantized levels, the picture can be effectively displayed, the operating time of the jaggy removing device can be shortened and the memory capacity can be reduced.
