Method of controlling change-over of valve timing of internal-combustion engine of variable valve timing type
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of durability of valves in a variable valve- timing type engine due to excessive change-overs of the valves, by making the timing change-over of opening and closing times of the valves different between engine operating conditions upon accelerating and upon decelerating. CONSTITUTION:A control device 60 in an engine 10 provided with air-intake and exhaust valves 27, 28 and a motor 68 for changing the opening and closing time of the air-intake valve 27, receives signals from a throttle sensor 22, an air- intake cam shaft sensor 64 and other engine operating condition detecting sensors, and controls the opening and closing times of the intake-air valve through the motor 60 in accordance with engine operating conditions. For example, the control device 66 receives an amount of change in the opening degree of a throttle valve from a throttle sensor signal to discriminate acceleration of deceleration and as well to compute an opening degree of the throttle valve after a predetermined time so that the valve timing is changed between the low speed type valve timing and the high speed type valve timing when the expected opening degree exceeds above gamma upon acceleration or declines below delta upon deceleration.
