Starter for internal combustion engine
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE: To increase a compression pressure and ensure an operation of good starting and ignition characteristic, by closing an air intake valve forcibly near the bottom dead center so as to increase a cylinder displacement at a period of closing of the air intake valve when in a starting of the engine. CONSTITUTION: With the delivery pressure of a pump 22 being not generated when in a starting operation of the engine, a hydraulic cylinder 8, that drives a cam shaft 3, tends to be pressed back by a spring 12. On the other hand, also for a hydraulic cylinder 25a, with no oil pressure being generated despite the state of a temperature control valve 30, a piston 26 is pushed by a spring 29, and a push rod 27 is shifted leftward. This causes a rod part 24 of the cylinder 8 to be pressed in by the rod 27, and the cam shaft 3 to be shifted leftward, obtaining the same valve timing for an air intake valve 4 as in a state of high load range. Consequently, a starting operation is made in such state with a closing period of the air intake valve 4 forcibly set to near the bottom dead center of suction stroke. COPYRIGHT: (C)1980,JPO&Japio
