Shock absorber
Abstract
Abstract PURPOSE:To aim at a mechanical simplification as well as simplicity of positioning, by employing a solenoid-operated rack pinion mechanism for on-off operation of the orifice of a shock absorber. CONSTITUTION:Rotating a piston rod 5 of the shock absorber, an on-off orifice 13 is operated for its open-and-close motion and thereby high or low attenuation force is secured. When giving rotation to the piston rod 5, solenoids 41a and 41b are excited and thereby cores 42a and 42b are given a forward/backward motion. Since a forward/backward member 44 clamped to the cores 42a and 42b is provided with a rack 44a, a pinion 45 gearing into the rack 44a is rotated. The pinion 45 is secured to the piston rod 5 so that the latter is rotated as well.
