Abstract
Abstract Method and device for determining the colour of a transparent, diffusing and absorbing object by illuminating a surface of the object using a substantially homogeneous and isotropic diffuse light flux, detection of the light scattered back by a small part of the illuminated surface of the object, using an optical system which comprises achromatic doublets (24), infrared and ultraviolet filters (26) and a diaphragm (28), and spectral analysis of this light using interference filters (34) and photodetectors (36). The invention applies in particular to the determination of the colour of teeth in the mouth. <IMAGE>
