Abstract

Abstract A vascular prosthesis is disclosed which excels in expansibility and allows satisfactory attachment thereto of cells and tissues. This vascular prosthesis is obtained by air-jet entangling a mass of yarns containing in at least a part thereof an elastic bulked yarn in order to get an entangled yarn furnished with fine crimps formed in fiber thereof, and fabricating a tubular fabric of the entangled fiber by one treatment selected from among weaving, knitting, and braiding treatments.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 56 words
A vascular prosthesis comprising a tubular fabric which is fabricated by at least one of weaving, knitting and braiding an entangled yarn, wherein fibers of said entangled yarn have fine crimps, and wherein said entangled yarn is obtained by air-jet entangling a mass of yarns containing in at least a part thereof an elastic bulked yarn.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 118 words
A vascular prosthesis according to claim 1, wherein said mass of yarns is one of a) at least one species of elastic yarns subjected to a bulking treatment, b) a combination of at least one species of elastic yarns subjected to a bulking treatment with at least one species of elastic yarns not subjected to a bulking treatment, c) a combination of at least one species of elastic yarns subjected to a bulking treatment with at least one species of nonelastic yarns subjected to a bulking treatment, and d) a combination of at least one species of elastic yarns subjected to a bulking treatment with at least one species of nonelastic yarns not subjected to a bulking treatment.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 56 words
A vascular prosthesis according to claim 2, wherein said elastic yarns are yarns whose elongation ratio required for restricting the elastic recovery ratio from elongation below 90% is not less than 2% and said nonelastic yarns are yarns whose elongation ratio required for restricting the elastic recovery ratio from elongation below 90% is less than 2%.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
A vascular prosthesis according to claim 1, wherein said mass of yarns is a mass of polyester type fibers.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 102 words
A vascular prosthesis according to claim 1, wherein said entangled yarn is produced by entangling (A) at least one species of 20 to 150 deniers elastic multifilament yarns subjected to a bulking treatment with (B) at least one species of yarns selected from the group consisting of a) 20 to 100 deniers elastic multifilament yarns not subjected to a bulking treatment, b) 20 to 100 deniers nonelastic multifilament yarns subjected to a bulking treatment, c) 20 to 100 deniers nonelastic multifilament yarns subjected to a bulking treatment, and d) 20 to 100 deniers nonelastic multifilament yarns not subjected to a bulking treatment.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 82 words
A vascular prosthesis comprising a tubular fabric which is fabricated by at least one of weaving, knitting, and braiding an entangled yarn, wherein said entangled yarn is obtained by entangling an elastic yarn with one of another elastic yarn and a nonelastic yarn, wherein the elongation ratio of said vascular prosthesis is in the range of from 2 to 15% in the radial direction and 2 to 20% in the axial direction under the load of an inner pressure of 150 mmHg.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 62 words
A method for the production of a vascular prosthesis comprising air-jet entangling a mass of yarns containing in at least a part thereof an elastic bulked yarn, thereby preparing an entangled yarn furnished with fine crimps formed in fibers thereof, and fabricating a tubular fabric of said entangled yarn by at least one treatment selected from among weaving, knitting, and braiding treatments.
