Abstract
Abstract Presented are a controlled-release pharmaceutical preparation for intra-ocular implant to be applied to the interior of the eye after a surgical operation for disorders in retina/vitreous body or for glaucoma, which is produced by homogeneously dispersing an anti-inflammatory agent or a cell proliferation antagonist in certain polylactic acid and forming it into a particular shape; and the use thereof for the prevention of the recurrence of said disorders or glaucoma after a surgical operation therefor.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 9
Claim 1
Independent Claim
58 words
A controlled-release pharmaceutical preparation for intra-ocular implant to be applied to the interior of the eye after a surgical operation for disorders in retina/vitreous body or a surgical operation for glaucoma, which is obtainable by homogeneously dispersing at least one anti-inflammatory agent or one cell proliferation antagonist in a biodegradable polymer and forming it into a particular shape.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
44 words
The controlled-release pharmaceutical preparation for intra-ocular implant of Claim 1, wherein said anti-inflammatory agent or said cell proliferation antagonist is selected from a group consisting of steroids such as dexamethasone m-sulfobenzoate sodium salt, hydrocortisone acetate and fluorometholone, and pyrimidine metabolism antagonists such as 5-fluorouracil.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
50 words
The controlled-release pharmaceutical preparation for intra-ocular implant of Claim 1 or 2, wherein said biodegradable polymer is a polylactic acid with a number-average molecular weight of about 2000 - about 4000 or a polylactic acid with a number-average molecular weight of about 5000 - about 7000, or a mixture thereof.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
64 words
The controlled-release pharmaceutical preparation for intra-ocular implant of Claim 1 or 2, wherein said biodegradable polymer is a mixture of a polylactic acid with a number-average molecular weight of about 2000 - about 4000 and a polylactic acid with a number-average molecular weight of about 5000 - about 7000 at a weight ratio in the range from 10 parts/90 parts to 90 parts/10 parts.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
23 words
The controlled-release pharmaceutical preparation for intra-ocular implant of Claim 1, 2, 3 or 4 wherein said preparation is short stick-shaped, needle-shaped or film-shaped.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
43 words
The use of at least one antiinflammatory agent and / or at least one cell proliferation antagonist and of a biodegradable polymer for preparing a pharmaceutical composition for the prevention of the recurrence of proliferative vitreoretinopathy or of glaucoma after a surgical operation.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
38 words
The use of Claim 6, wherein said anti-inflammatory agent or said cell proliferation antagonist is selected from a growp consisting of steroids such as dexamethasone m-sulfobenzoate sodium salt and hydrocortisone acetate and pyrimidine metabolism antagonists such as 5-fluorouracil.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
45 words
The use of Claim 6 or 7, wherein said biodegradable polymer is a polylactic acid with a number-average molecular weight of about 2000 - about 4000 or a polylactic acid with a number-average molecular weight of about 5000 - about 7000, or a mixture thereof.
Claim 9
Independent Claim
45 words
A method for preparing a controlled-release pharmaceutical preparation as defined in anyone of claims 1 to 5 which comprises the steps of homogeneously dispersing at least one antiinflammatory agent or one cell proliferation antagonist in a biodegradable polymer and forming it into a particular shape.
