Abstract
Abstract An information reproducing system plays back a group of recording mediums each having recording information to be reproduced and TOC information with respect to the recorded information, so that the recorded information of the recording mediums can be reproduced according to the TOC Information. The TOC information of the recording mediums before the recording mediums are palyed back, playback operation of the recording mediums is controlled based on the read TOC information. Since it is not necessary to read TOC information each time a recoridng medium is replaced or a group of recording medium is replaced, the recording mediums can smoothly be played back.

An information reproducing system for playing back a group of recording mediums each having recorded information to be reproduced and TOC information with respect to the recorded information, so that the recorded information of the recording mediums can be reproduced according to the TOC information, said information reproducing system comprising: reading means for reading the TOC information of the recording mediums before the recording mediums are played back; and playback control means for controlling playback operation of the recording mediums based on the read TOC information , said playback control means conprising: TOC information storing means for storing the TOC information read by said reading means, with respect to the group of recording mediums; identification information generating means for generating identification information inherent in the group of recording mediums based on the TOC information; recording medium group checking means for checking the group of recording medium for identity based on said identification information; and reading means for reading registered TOC information corresponding to the group of recording mediums from the TOC information storing means based on the result of checking by said recording medium group checking means.
