Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 10
Claim 1
Independent Claim
20 words
An injectable bone growth-inducing composition comprising an aqueous suspension of fibrillar atelopeptide collagen and at least partially purified osteogenic factor.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
20 words
An injectable bone growth-inducing composition comprising an aqueous suspension of fibrillar atelopeptide collagen and at least partially purified osteogenic factor.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
22 words
The composition according to claim 1 wherein the concentration of collagen is in the range of about 5 to about 65 mg/ml.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
28 words
The composition according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the fibrillar atelopeptide collagen and at least partially purified osteogenic factor are in the form of a coprecipitate.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
27 words
The composition according to claim 3 wherein the weight ratio of collagen to osteogenic factor in the coprecipitate is in the range of about 5:1 to 300:1.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
21 words
The composition according to claim 3 or claim 4 wherein the osteogenic factor is coprecipitated from an acidic demineralized bone extract.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
67 words
A process for making a composition according to claim 3 comprising the steps of: (a) providing an acidic, aqueous solution of atelopeptide collagen and osteogenic factor; (b) coprecipitating the atelopeptide collagen and osteogenic factor by increasing the pH of the solution; and (c) adjusting, if necessary, the concentration of the coprecipitate in the resulting suspension to about 5 to about 65 mg/ml, based on the atelopeptide collagen.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
17 words
A process according to claim 6 wherein the osteogenic factor is present as a demineralized bone extract.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
25 words
A process according to claim 7 wherein the weight ratio of atelopeptide collagen to demineralized bone extract in the solution is about 5:1 to 300:1.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
22 words
A process according to any one of claims 6 to 8 wherein the said increase is to about 6.5 to about 8.5.
