Abstract
Abstract An emulsion of perfluorocarbon compounds in an aqueous system has oxygen transporting properties. By incorporation of fat of animal or vegetable origin and at least one of the amino acids glycine, serine or phenylalanine, or urea in the emulsion, the stability of the emulsion will be increased to a point where it can be sterilized by autoclaving, and have nutritive properties as well. The invention also concerns the preparation of an emulsion stabilized in the above manner.
