Abstract

The present invention relates to the regeneration of synchronization signals (HS) used for writing and / or reading digital data recorded or to be recorded on an optical information medium. According to the invention, the synchronization signals (HS) are regenerated in phase by determining the phase shift of the center of specific pulses with respect to a clock signal (H). According to a preferred variant, the specific data and the useful information data are coded according to the code N.R.Z., the specific data being associated with pulse durations not used in the code N.R.Z. for the registration of information data. The specific data can be recorded in time multiplexing with the digital information data or, in a preferred variant, in the form of flags at regularly spaced track sites defining therebetween areas intended for the recording of blocks of data. The recording of these flags can be done prior to any registration of digital information data in the form of pre-engraving. The synchronization signals (HS) regenerated from the reading of these flags can then also be used for writing during the recording phases of the information data. Application in particular, in computing, to random access optical memory systems.
