Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim
129 words
A device for removing material from a body lumen, the device comprising: a catheter having a proximal end, a distal end, and a catheter lumen extending therethrough; a cutter assembly located at the distal end of the catheter, wherein the cutter assembly comprises a housing having a first opening and a cutter, wherein the cutter comprises a distal cutter portion extending out of the first opening and comprising at least one helical cutting edge and wherein the cutter further comprises a proximal cutter portion inside the housing and having a number of helical cutting edges greater than the at least one cutting edge of the distal portion; and a torque shaft extending through the catheter lumen and coupled to the cutter for rotating the cutter relative to the catheter.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
23 words
The device of claim 1 further comprising a lumen extending through the torque shaft and the cutter accommodating passage of a guide wire.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
36 words
The device of claim 1 wherein the torque shaft has at least one helical conveyor member wound about an exterior such that rotation of the torque shaft conveys material across a length of the torque shaft.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
11 words
The device of claim 1 wherein the catheter comprises a guide-wire.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
18 words
The device of claim 1 further comprising a burr rotatably located on a tip of the cutter assembly.
