Claim 1
Independent Claim
71 words
A wheel assembly comprising: a roller member; roller bearing structure permitting the roller member to rotate about an axis of rotation and with respect to a vertical axis; a spherical bearing structure constructed and arranged to permit the roller member to rotate about the axis of rotation at an angle with respect to the vertical axis; and, spring structure constructed and arranged to bias the roller member towards the vertical axis.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
28 words
The wheel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the roller member is of a generally parabolic shape with centered recesses at each side face of the roller member.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
24 words
The wheel assembly of claim 2 , wherein the roller member is configured for use as a wheel for an in-line skate wheel frame.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
26 words
The wheel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the roller bearing structure includes at least one of a roller ball bearing and a needle roller bearing.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
38 words
The wheel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the spring structure comprises a pair of constant force self-aligning springs being associated with a frame of the roller member and being located at each side of the roller member.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
25 words
The wheel assembly of claim 5 , wherein each pair of springs is comprised of one of open coil springs and accordion pleated material springs.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
103 words
The wheel assembly of claim 1 , in combination with an in-line roller skate wheel having an axle, the wheel assembly being coupled to the axle, the wheel assembly being disposed within a wheel frame of the in-line roller skate, the skate wheel frame having friction contact surfaces operatively associated with friction control surfaces of the roller member, such that when the roller member rotates at a certain angle with respect to the vertical axis, a friction control surface of the roller member contacts a friction contact surface of the skate wheel frame to cause slowing down and braking of the roller member.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
29 words
The wheel assembly of claim 1 , wherein the spherical bearing defines a hub of said roller member and wherein the spring structure is made integral within said hub.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
17 words
The wheel assembly of claim 8 , further comprising an axle received by the roller bearing structure.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
77 words
The wheel assembly of claim 9 , further comprising friction structure fixed to the axle and friction control surfaces on said roller member operatively associated with friction contact surfaces of the friction structure, such that when the roller member rotates at a certain angle with respect to the vertical axis, a friction control surface of the roller member contacts a friction contact surface of the friction structure to cause slowing down and braking of the roller member.
