Abstract

Abstract A medical implant coated with an amorphous hydroxyapatite/titanium coating layer having both high coating-substrate bond strength and a low dissolution rate of the coating. The medical implant of the present invention includes a substrate and a surface coating deposited onto the substrate from a composite target comprising 10-75% by volume of titanium and 90-25% by volume of hydroxyapatite.
