Abstract
Abstract In an digital disk player the timely acquisition of requested replay sectors is particularly important during trick mode operation. Delay in a transduced bitstream path is substantially obviated from the process of controlling a transducer position during replay by a method comprising the steps of receiving a first and a second transducer address for controlling the transducer position responsive to a replayed address. Comparing the replayed address with the first transducer address to detect equality therebetween. In response to the detected equality moving the transducer to a new position determined by the second transducer address.

Claim 1
Independent Claim
90 words
A method for controlling a transducer position during replay in digital disk apparatus, comprising the following steps: receiving a last sector address and a next sector address for controlling said transducer position responsive to a replay sector address, wherein the replay sector address is separately error corrected from the last sector address and the next sector address; comparing said replay sector address with said last sector address to detect equality therebetween; and moving said transducer responsive to said detected equality, to a new position determined by said next sector address.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
90 words
A method for controlling a transducer position during replay in digital disk apparatus, comprising the following steps: receiving a last sector address and a next sector address for controlling said transducer position responsive to a replay sector address, wherein the replay sector address is separately error corrected from the last sector address and the next sector address; comparing said replay sector address with said last sector address to detect equality therebetween; and moving said transducer responsive to said detected equality, to a new position determined by said next sector address.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
32 words
The method of claim 1 , wherein said moving step includes: receiving a third and a fourth transducer address; and, repeating said comparing and said moving steps until said replay is stopped.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim

An apparatus for reproducing a digitally encoded signal from a medium, comprising: a transducer positionally controlled for transducing said digitally encoded signal and providing a replay sector address; and, a controller coupled said transducer for controlling a position thereof responsive to said digitally encoded signal and a last sector address coupled thereto, wherein, responsive to said digitally encoded signal and said last sector address being substantially equal said controller controls said transducer to a second position determined by a next sector address.
Claim 7
Independent Claim
82 words
An apparatus for reproducing a digitally encoded signal from a medium, comprising: a transducer positionally controlled for transducing said digitally encoded signal and providing a replay sector address; and, a controller coupled said transducer for controlling a position thereof responsive to said digitally encoded signal and a last sector address coupled thereto, wherein, responsive to said digitally encoded signal and said last sector address being substantially equal said controller controls said transducer to a second position determined by a next sector address.
Claim 8
Independent Claim
113 words
An apparatus for reproducing a digitally encoded signal from a medium, comprising: a transducer positionally controlled for transducing said digitally encoded signal and providing a replay sector address; a controller coupled to said transducer for controlling a position thereof responsive to said digitally encoded signal and a last sector address coupled thereto; and a comparator for comparing said digitally encoded signal and said last sector address, and having an output coupled to said controller for changing said transducer position, wherein responsive to said digitally encoded signal and said last sector address being equal said comparator output causes said controller to change said transducer to a second position determined by a next sector address.
Claim 9
Independent Claim
