Abstract
Abstract An electrical switch assembly includes a first switch contact stamped and formed of sheet metal material and including a base. An integral spring contact arm is folded into cantilevered position back over the base. The spring contact arm has a distal end with a first contact surface facing away from the base. A second switch contact has a second contact surface facing the base of the first switch contact in position of opposing engagement with the first contact surface. Therefore, movement of the spring contact arm of the first switch contact toward the base thereof causes the first contact surface to move away from the second contact surface of the second switch contact.

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim
124 words
An electrical switch assembly, comprising: a first switch contact stamped and formed of sheet metal material and including a base and an integral spring contact arm folded into cantilevered position back over the base, the spring contact arm having a distal end with a first contact surface offset to one side of the spring contact arm and facing away from the base; and a second switch contact having a second contact surface facing the base of the first switch contact in position of opposing engagement with said first contact surface, whereby movement of the spring contact arm of the first switch contact toward the base thereof causes the first contact surface to move away from the second contact surface of the second switch contact.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
28 words
The electrical switch contact assembly of claim 1 wherein said second switch contact extends along said one side of the spring contact arm of the first switch contact.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
33 words
The electrical switch contact assembly of claim 1 wherein said spring contact arm has a rounded actuation portion near the distal end thereof and projecting therefrom in a direction away from said base.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
23 words
The electrical switch contact assembly of claim 1 wherein the distal end of said spring contact arm is folded back under the arm.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
36 words
The electrical switch contact assembly of claim 4 wherein said folded-back distal end of the spring contact arm has an under surface for engaging the base and providing a anti-overstress means for the spring contact arm.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
137 words
An electrical switch assembly, comprising: a first switch contact stamped and formed of sheet metal material and including a base and an integral spring contact arm folded into cantilevered position back over the base, the spring contact arm having a distal end folded back under the arm, the distal end having a first contact surface facing away from the base, with the first contact surface being offset to one side of the spring contact arm; and a second switch contact having a second contact surface facing the base of the first switch contact in position of opposing engagement with said first contact surface, whereby movement of the spring contact arm of the first switch contact toward the base thereof causes the first contact surface to move away from the second contact surface of the second switch contact.
Claim 8
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
28 words
The electrical switch contact assembly of claim 6 wherein said second switch contact extends along said one side of the spring contact arm of the first switch contact.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
33 words
The electrical switch contact assembly of claim 6 wherein said spring contact arm has a rounded actuation portion near the distal end thereof and projecting therefrom in a direction away from said base.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
36 words
The electrical switch contact assembly of claim 6 wherein said folded-back distal end of the spring contact arm has an under surface for engaging the base and providing a anti-overstress means for the spring contact arm.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim
34 words
The electrical switch contact assembly of claim 6 wherein said first switch contact includes a terminating tail projecting from the base at a side thereof opposite said one side of the spring contact arm.
