Abstract

Abstract The height of protrusions formed during laser texturing a glass or glass-ceramic substrate is controlled by controlling the quench rate of the protrusions during resolidification. In an embodiment, the quench rate is controlled by heating the substrate during laser texturing. Heating can be initiated prior or subsequent to, or simultaneously with, initial exposure of the substrate surface to a pulsed, focused CO 2 laser beam for texturing.
